Use a lingerie bag or mesh fabric bag

Check out a petite size chart to see where you fit best (see Resources). Keep in mind that lingerie is often labeled as small, medium or large instead of using actual measurements. The chart helps you figure out where you fall.

Shop in stores that carry a petite section. Stores like Lula Lu specialize in smaller frames and display their inventory online. Some stores also carry lingerie for the full-size petite woman. See Resources below.

Decide what type of look you want. Traditional fantasy lingerie is the sexy nurse or maid costumes. Fantasy lingerie has expanded and now includes many more costumes, such as belly dancer, mermaid, cowgirl, cheerleader, schoolgirl, biker girl, witch, jungle woman, devil, waitress and famous cartoon princesses.

Pick fantasy lingerie that makes you feel comfortable and sexy. If your partner's fantasy involves a costume you're not comfortable with, see if they have a different fantasy, or choose a costume you think they'd like.

Use a  Men's Underwear bag or mesh fabric bag when washing delicates in the washing machine. Though hand-washing lingerie is the safest route, it is not always the most efficient. Many types of lingerie, including some silks, are quite sturdy. More caution is necessary with lace and satin.

Connect bra hooks and eyelets together before washing them in the washing machine and avoid washing these garments with other clothes to minimize twisting and tangling. When washed on the delicate cycle, unpadded bras without underwire generally fare well. Padded bras are best washed by hand or washed in the machine on the gentle cycle. Be sure to remove them before the spin cycle.
